Looking for day-by-day itineraries in Siesta Key? Takes about 2 to 2.5 hours to see everything. Our family highly recommends making to Mote if you're in Sarasota. We had a baby so we just drove to the other parking lot closer to that building because it was hot outside. Those are in a different building so be prepared to walk about a quarter mile to get there. Mote also has gators, river otters, manatees, and live sea turtles. You get a handful of teeth and you get to keep the bag they came in. It was a bag of sand you sifted in running water. Sting rays, a Dogfish, and even little sharks. They also, had many stations for touching marine life for free. The seat would move as you explored the ocean. They had a virtual tour where you sit in this egg shaped seat and put on virtual goggles. It would be hard to get lost in this place. Walkong through the exhibits was easy and straightforward. All we had to do was show the door attendant our phone or proof of purchase. We also ordered online so we didn't have to go through the ticket line. We got there early so parking wasn't an issue. How I would have loved to have been apprenticed to a genius of that caliber. The only thing missing, is not being able to meet the man himself, as he sadly passed away in 2016 at the age of 81. Stained glass windows, wooden artworks, a wooden ship that houses a restaurant, and innumerable other treasures all hand made by Arthur Solomon.Īnd the property is still run by his family. I didn't realize until later that she was his daughter, she was so humble I thought she just worked there. When I arrived onto the property, I met the late Arthur Solomon's daughter, and she gave me permission to plug my gear in for recharging whilst touring the grounds and the castle. There was so much more than just an aluminum castle □. On a whim, I decided to detour and check out the"aluminum castle". I was cycle touring through the area and saw a nondescript sign for "Solomon's Castle". Absolutely love it! Arthur Solomon was obviously an absolute genius, a phenomenal artist in so many different mediums & techniques and a brilliant businessman.
